Ayurveda is part of Adharvana Veda. &nbsp;Ayurveda is assigned a place as a subsidiary&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Veda\">Veda<\/a>&nbsp;(<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Upaveda\">upaveda<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Ayurveda is one of the few systems of medicine developed in ancient times that is still widely practiced in modern times<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main classical Ayurveda texts begin with accounts of the transmission of medical knowledge from the gods to sages, and then to human physicians. First Ayurveda Vidya , was received in the form of hymns&nbsp; or slokas or sutras&nbsp; by Dhanvantari (or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Divodasa\">Divodasa<\/a>) from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Brahma\">Brahma<\/a>.<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dhanvantari\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dhanvantari\">Dhanvantari&nbsp;is the physician of the devas in Hinduism. He is regarded to be an avatar of Vishnu. He is mentioned in the Puranas as the God of Ayurveda<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"341\" height=\"456\" src=\"https:\/\/vedasamskrutisamiti.org.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Dhanvatari.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1618\" srcset=\"https:\/\/vedasamskrutisamiti.org.in\/old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Dhanvatari.jpg 341w, https:\/\/vedasamskrutisamiti.org.in\/old\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Dhanvatari-224x300.jpg 224w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong>DHANWANTARI GOD<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Some of the&nbsp; ancient works on Ayurvedic medicine are the Charaka Samhita, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sushruta_Samhita\">Sushruta Samhita<\/a>&nbsp;and the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bhela_Samhita\">Bhela Samhita<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>80 percent of people in India use Ayurveda exclusively or combined with conventional Western medicine. A Ayurveda is part of&nbsp; the Indian System of Medicine or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/AYUSH\">AYUSH<\/a>&nbsp;(Ayurveda, Yoga and naturopathy, Unani, Sidha, and Homeopathy) .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Ayurveda, the human body is composed of tissues (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dhatu_(Ayurveda)\"><em>dhatus<\/em><\/a>), waste (<em>malas<\/em>), and humoral biomaterials (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dosha\"><em>doshas<\/em><\/a>).<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ayurveda#cite_note-Mishra-36\"><sup>[36]<\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;The seven&nbsp;<em>dhatus<\/em>&nbsp;are chyle (<em>rasa<\/em>), blood (<em>rakta<\/em>), muscles (<em>m\u0101msa<\/em>), fat (<em>meda<\/em>), bone (<em>asthi<\/em>),&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Bone_marrow\">marrow<\/a>&nbsp;(<em>majja<\/em>), and semen (<em>shukra<\/em>). Like the medicine of classical antiquity, the classic treatises of Ayurveda divided bodily substances into five&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Classical_element#Classical_elements_in_Hinduism\">classical elements<\/a>&nbsp;(<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Panchamahabhuta\"><em>panchamahabhuta<\/em><\/a>)&nbsp;<em>viz.<\/em>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Prithvi\">earth<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ap_(water)\">water<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Agni\">fire<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Vayu\">air<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ether_(classical_element)\">ether<\/a>(Akash). There are also twenty&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Guna\">gunas<\/a>&nbsp;(qualities or characteristics) which are considered to be inherent in all matter. These are organized in ten pairs: heavy\/light, cold\/hot, unctuous\/dry, dull\/sharp, stable\/mobile, soft\/hard, non-slimy\/slimy, smooth\/coarse, minute\/gross, and viscous\/liquid.<sup>[<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"257\" height=\"219\" src=\"https:\/\/vedasamskrutisamiti.org.in\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/Doshas.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1619\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The three postulated elemental bodily humors, the&nbsp;<em>doshas<\/em>&nbsp;or&nbsp;<em>tridosha<\/em>, are&nbsp;<em>vata<\/em>&nbsp;(air, which some modern authors equate with the nervous system),&nbsp;<em>pitta<\/em>&nbsp;(bile, fire, equated by some with enzymes), and&nbsp;<em>kapha<\/em>&nbsp;(phlegm, or earth and water, equated by some with mucus). Contemporary critics assert that&nbsp;<em>doshas<\/em>&nbsp;are not real, but are a fictional concept.<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ayurveda#cite_note-sn-39\"><sup>[39]<\/sup><\/a>&nbsp;The humours (<em>doshas<\/em>) may also affect mental health. Each&nbsp;<em>dosha<\/em>&nbsp;has particular attributes and roles within the body and mind; the natural predominance of one or more&nbsp;<em>doshas<\/em>&nbsp;thus explains a person&#8217;s physical constitution (<em>prakriti<\/em>) and personality.&nbsp; Each human &nbsp;being possesses a unique combination of the&nbsp;<em>doshas<\/em>&nbsp;which define this person&#8217;s temperament and characteristics.
